The wall is only as good as the drainage behind it.

Retaining Walls & Sitting Walls

Engineered block, natural stone, and boulder walls that hold the hill, manage the water, and look good doing it.

What We Build

Retaining walls fail from the water behind them, not the stone in front. A wall can look perfect the day it's finished and still be doomed if nobody handled drainage.

We build walls the way they're supposed to be built: proper footing, drainage stone and pipe behind the face, and the right block or stone for the height and the load. Then it stands there and does its job for decades.

  • Segmental block retaining walls
  • Natural fieldstone and boulder walls
  • Sitting walls and garden walls
  • Terraced slopes
  • Steps built into walls
  • Repairs and rebuilds of failing walls

How We Build It

Excavate to solid ground. Base course compacted and dead level. Crushed stone and perforated pipe behind the wall so water has somewhere to go. Geogrid reinforcement where the height calls for it. Taller walls sometimes need engineering or a permit, and we'll tell you that upfront and handle the process.

Materials

Nicolock, Cambridge, and Belgard wall systems, plus natural fieldstone and boulders. We match the wall to the site, the soil, and the look of your property.

Common Questions

Why did my old wall lean or fall?
Almost always water. Without drainage stone and pipe behind the face, wet soil pushes on the wall until something gives. We rebuild with the drainage handled so it doesn't happen twice.
Do I need a permit for a retaining wall?
Depends on your town and the wall height. Many towns require permits or engineering above a certain height. We'll tell you what applies before you commit to anything.
